Dear Applicant:

Members of the Board and Staff of The Lenny Zakim Fund have reviewed its grant making policies and procedures to increase the impact of our giving and to bring our grant making into line with current best practices.
 
To that end, we have:

• Clarified the application process for grant-seekers, new materials will be available shortly
• Adjusted the grantmaking calendar to reduce the length of the cycle for grant seekers
• The Lenny Zakim Fund will now accept grant applications requesting general operating funds as well as specified program support

THE SCHEDULE AND DECISION MAKING PROCESS

• Application materials will be available on Friday, June 13th
• Applications are due by 5:00 pm Wednesday, July 30th
• A committee will review all applications in early September
• Some requests will be declined at that time, and those applicants will be notified.
• In the fall and early winter months, the Board will conduct site visits and obtain further information deemed necessary.
• Final decisions will be made in February 2009 and awards will be made in early March 2009

Please review the Guidelines and Instructions carefully.

Applications that are incomplete as of the deadline will not be considered.
Applications can only be considered when accompanied by complete budget information, including:

• Specific project/program expenses or costs; all income sources for the project/program, both in hand and anticipated;
• Expense and income figures for the "parent" or larger organization which houses your organization or program;
• The amount of support provided to the program by the "parent" or larger organization.

Please note that The Lenny Zakim Fund will now consider grants for general operating support as well as specific program support.

If you have previously received a grant from The Lenny Zakim Fund, you must also fill out the LZF Self-evaluation Form 2008 . Please submit all application materials to:
