Meet Renee Seman

On April 17, 2017 I will run my 3rd marathon! And not just any marathon but THE BOSTON MARATHON!
I run to stay strong!
In 2014 I was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer; a cancer for which there is no cure yet and I have run my last two marathons both while being treated with chemotherapy.  The Boston Marathon will be my third marathon while fighting this disease   Running keeps me strong providing me with the strength I need to go forward.
I run to help others!
I have been given the privlege to run the Boston Marathon representing the Lenny Zakim Fund.
In 2014, Renee was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer – a cancer for which there is no cure yet – and she has run her last two marathons while being treated with chemotherapy.  Running offers an outlet, and Renee believes every run is an extraordinary experience.  The Boston Marathon will be her third marathon while fighting this disease. She ran the New York City Marathon for Fred's Team and the Chicago Marathon for Team for Kids. Renee says that running keeps her strong, providing her with the strength she need to go forward. With running, she also demonstrates to her three-year- old daughter – who is her biggest fan along with her husband – that despite a terrifying diagnosis, she can live a good life and accomplish her goals.

Renee is a public defender in New York City representing indigent clients in the criminal justice system who experience social inequality and injustice on a daily basis.  Running for The Lenny Zakim Fund Team will help bring these issues to a broader population outside of her work community, while raising awareness and critical funds.
